“Close to Home” is the story of three college freshmen who embark on a journey of self-discovery when given an assignment in their Humanity Prep Course. Jordan, a country boy from Savannah is thrust into a group project with Folashade, a feisty, sharp tongue, pretty girl who won’t give him the time of day and Jenni, a young social activist who wears her badge of womanism proudly. Tensions rise and personalities clash when each person is required to be vulnerable while learning who they really are. Folashade is a judgmental “know it all”; Jenni comes off as a radicalized liberal; and somehow Jordan is caught in between when he begins to fall for one of the girls. As family secrets surface, the three brace themselves for the repercussions of what they have discovered.
